Cathy: Tomorrow is Valentine's Day. One year ago tomorrow you asked me to marry you....and here we are on our honeymoon. I can't believe it. One year ago you gave me this ring, and with it you gave me love, hope, trust, a best friend, a brand-new future and a Valentine forever. Thank you for the most wonderful, amazing, happiest year of my life!! I can't wait to see what you have planned for this Valentine's Day!

The look of horror on Irving’s face says it all!

Well, so far it’s a BIG zero for me this Valentine’s Day. All male household (5), and they hate V Day with a passion…..even though I always see that they receive a chocolate treat. I need my mommy to give me a nice, hollow chocolate heart in a box with a window in it, with my name written for free across the heart, that she bought at Woolworth’s. Yes, I do.

Easy. One red rose. Little note attached:
“Happy first Valentine’s Day to my wife.”
Next year: TWO red roses. Little note:
“Happy second Valentine’s Day to my wife.”
Start off a personal traditional which will grow with every year that passes.
It also gives you time to save up for the 25th and the 50th . . . which your wife is going to love.

Love Anona Mouse‘s solution. Start small so the expectations are affordable. The real question is: What has Cathy planned for this Valentine’s day? Somewhere along the way this day has become somewhat female centric. After all, I like chocolates too! Happy Valentine’s Day to the Cathy Clan. Wherever you are, I hope you have a happy day.

Wish I’d thought of it 48 years ago, though.
Bit late now!

In Mexico today is called Día del Amor y de la Amistad, Day of Love and Friendship, which I like because it includes everyone I care about, not just a romantic someone.
