You obviously have never met a German Shepherd. Mine can open cupboards, drawers, the refrigerator, a bag of food, doors, and the garage door, with the button on the wall. I’m pretty sure that if he could talk, I could teach him to read.

How do you know he can’t read already? He could be a silent reader. That shows he has good manners.

I’ve had cats that can open doors, cupboards, and drawers. One of my current cats chews through bags to get to food, which is why all the pet food (we have two dogs and two cats) is in large rubbermaid containers. Except that working together, the two cats HAVE gotten the lid off one of the containers a couple of times.

We’ve thought of changing the name of a couple of our cats to Houdini…open cupboards, doors, bags, containers….even the top shelf of the kitchen cupboards is not off limits….catnip scattered throughout the entire kitchen. One of them was not supposed to use stairs after his surgery….locked him in the upstairs bathroom because we had to go out for a few minutes….met us at the door when we came home. He had knocked the pipe enclosure for the bathtub out of the way, gotten between the floors and knocked out a tile in the kitchen ceiling…falling through to the floor. At least he didn’t use the stairs. ;)
