From what I remember about Irving’s parents, they are horrible. In their cases I don’t blame Cathy and Irving for bringing distractions instead of spending time interacting with them.
Poor Cathy! I just feel so bad for her because no matter what she says or does, there’s simply no pleasing the M-I-L from hell, that’s for sure. Why can’t that evil woman just be happy and satisfied with the fact that she was able to successfully guilt-trip her son and D-I-L into spending Thanksgiving with them (instead of her parents) and triumphantly leave it at that? A grilled cheese sandwich? Really? When there are so many restaurants open that day that serve the traditional Thanksgiving meal but without all the mess and stress to go along with it that they could go to instead? Yeah, right. Sure they are! :-P

I’ve always thought Irving’s mother was a really nasty person and I don’t blame Cathy one bit. If I were her and being forced to spend time with in-laws I couldn’t stand, I’d be bringing along all my electronic devices too ….. just so that I could use work (whether I had any or not) as a really con-venient excuse to spend as little time in their actual physical presence as possible until I could finally escape and return to my own peaceful home again until the next visit with them I couldn’t get out of! :-(

Hi, rgcviper! :-)
lightenup and QuietStorm27: How are your girls doing? Hopefully they’re both over whatever was ailing them by now!

Hello and Happy Wednesday, fellow Cathy fans. Hope everyone had a really nice day today! :-)
Oh the guilt trip… Eyeroll! Not that I would tell my MIL if I were going to bring stuff to do in order to avoid her, but she also shouldn’t try to make me feel bad for doing something else. Sheesh!
Hello Cathy friends! Happy Wednesday! Jr is doing just fine now, thanks for thinking of her, Sis! :-) It’s been busy here trying to catch up on stuff, so I need to go back a few days and catch up on Cathy now. But I hope everyone is doing well!
HI, MOM. I wish I could take credit, or ownership, for the [eye-rolls] here, but they were not my idea. They sure come in handy, though—and plenty to go around, too …

Yep, I learned on lot on how to be a good MIL by not doing any of the things Irving’s mother does.

If I was Cathy, I would find a way to fill those 6 minutes too.
