Cathy Classics by Cathy Guisewite for February 18, 2018
Transcript:
Cathy: I felt fabulous about my weight loss program until I put on my workout wear. The squishy little sports bra instantly created three new rolls of fat. The skimpy spandex tank squashed the rolls made by the bra and created one big roll around the middle. The beansy bike shorts made my rear look huge and my thighs look immense. The tiny "marathon socks" made everything above the ankle look hopeless. Irving: Ready for the gym, honey? Cathy: It's not a lack of willpower, it's a lack of fabric.

Double eye roll (The Cathy comic means my eyes get lots of exercise!) Cathy, no one at the gym is going to be looking at you. And for the second eyeroll, what are you wearing tight fitting spandex to work out for? I wear my oldest cotton shorts and tee shirt that I wouldn’t wear anywhere else. They are loose and comfortable.

It is amazing how much stress the fashion industry puts on something as simple as exercising. I agree with SunFlowerGirl100 – loose and comfortable is far better than ‘fashionable’.

I even wear a sweatshirt for ballet class…the only ones who do the leotard bit anymore are the 20 year olds and I figure, let them show off their lean little bodies.
