Cathy: $175 for a swimsuit?! Saleswoman: Oh, no, no, no! You're reading the price wrong! Cathy: Thank heavens! Saleswoman: You have to look at the $15 swimsuit price tag through $280 sunglasses! Cathy: $280 sunglasses?! Saleswoman: $430 sunglasses make the $175 look even better! $550 glasses make it even better! And ta da! Pop on some $790 sunglasses that you'll lose in a week and peek at a $175 suit that will be stuffed in your drawer for the next 36 years! Now that's value! Cathy: That's insanity! Saleswoman: Wouldn't seem so crazy if you were pulling your credit card out of a nice new $1200 summer purse!

All she needs to do is stay out of the stores!!

Sadly there are people out there (celebrities) who would pay those prices.

Y’know, it’s funny. When I was younger, Cathy was like a guru. She really got me. But now that I’m older, she’s just plain ridiculous.

I was gonna say, summerdog:
I think Cathy needs to just slowly back out of the store, away from the whack-a-doodle sales lady, with her hands raised … ha.
HI, MOM. Happy Sunday, Clan.

This is a switch – Cathy is actually being reasonable. The saleslady does have a valid point of view though. We were new car shopping on Friday and I had to point out the the salesman that giving me the premium paint ($300 value) for free did not mean much against the $60K final price after taxes. It is all a matter of perspective. But then I always thought that paying more than $10 for sunglasses that are going to be lost or scratched after a couple of weeks was ridiculous. So yes, the sales pitch gets an eyeroll.
Happy Sunday everyone. Enjoy the day.

Sadly, my latest pair of prescription sunglasses is somewhere in that ballpark…luckily they were partially covered by insurance, but because they are “progressives” and not the kind of progressives that insurance covers (which didn’t allow me to focus) they cost a fortune.
