At least she isn’t dissembling.

How many of you scan your own groceries, and use the Walmart scanner? Whether I do or not, depends on what I have. I don’t mind serving myself, but I do hate pumping my own gas.

I remember shoe salesmen. They spent all day running back and forth to find the shoes we wanted to try on. Then, they had to box that pile all up again and return them to the back. "Let me run outback and see if I have this one in a larger..smaller..wider..narrower.. size

Ladies behind store counter’s in large department stores…everything was in drawers and behind glass. You had to tell her what you wanted. All these jobs were lost, now that we help ourselves. Jewelry stores need to be self-serve! : )

Y’know, Cathy has a point here. Things often seem convenient at first, until you really think about them. I’ll be first in line to check out Irving’s gazebo, after I finish rolling my eyes …

SummerDog86 the only thing wrong with self-serve jewelry stores is that too many of those tiny but expensive baubles would be self-served right out the door – bypassing the cash. I’m with RgcViper, Irvings gazebo would be interesting to see.

I would gladly pay a little more to have some of the services back that we have lost. As a prof, it would have been nice to have a functioning secretary too…another job lost to do-it-yourself.
