Mrs. Hillman: To help organize your refrigerator, I have borne a 6,000-calorie burden for the family this week! With no thoughts of self, I sampled everything for freshness! The leftover linguini! The take-home Thai! The pudding cups! The frozen puff pastry! The four-day-old three-bean salad! The tree-day-old four-cheese ravioli! Irving: Thanks, mom... ...But if you want to help, why not organize the garage?? Mrs. Hillman: There's no food in there.

6000 calories? Wow! That’s enough for 2-3 days. Irving, you should hide some snacks in the garage for your mom to find, like a scavenger hunt, so she will organize that too. That almost sounds like fun.

What a worthless, lazy woman Irving’s mother is! She could have been doing so much to help her son and D-I-L out around there over the last almost-11 months she’s been living there (rent-free, I’m sure) while C&I have been doing all the work — both in and outside the house — and paying all the bills. But the only things I’ve seen her do are complain, wear out the sofa from all the t.v.-watching (not to mention the guest bedroom’s mattress), and now this little bit of refrigerator “cleaning” that was more of an excuse to eat several days worth of caloric consumption in one meal than it was to actually help “organize” it for them.
No doubt about it: Cathy is an absolute saint to put up with that awful woman and this com-pletely intolerable situation she’s hopelessly stuck in no thanks to the fact that her husband has the spine of a Gummy worm and refuses to do what NEEDS to be done in order to fix it!

Speaking of linguini and ravioli, I had some frozen three-cheese tortellini for dinner on Friday. Darn good, too—hit the spot.

I’m with Mom…she’s worthless, she’s eating everything in sight, she hasn’t lifted a finger to help in 11 months…time to go.
