Dreamed of getting away from it all: 6 months. Prepared to get away from it all: 6 weeks. Travelled to get away from it all: 6 hours. Re-created it all in the hotel room: 6 minutes. Irving: I set up the room voice mail, plugged in our iPod speakers, cleared a space for both laptops and logged onto the hotel's wireless!

Next time, leave him home. In the meantime, leave him to play with his toys and go sightseeing.

Sometimes I do like to take my mobile stuff with me on vacation just to prove the money spent on “mobile” was worth it.

If the only thing Irving’s going to do is spend time in their hotel room playing with all of his “tech toys” rather than see the sites with his wife, it would have been a LOT cheaper to have stayed home and done it there instead! :-/

Irving really does not understand the concept of ‘vacation’. Yes, in these times having a mobile device is almost a necessity for planning your days and making reservations but phones and tablets are a lot smaller. Having access to everything you should have left behind is not part of a vacation at all. Wendy Emlinger is right – if Cathy leaves to go sight-seeing Irving probably will not notice.
