Cleaning house at our place means taking the disorganized piles of crap and organizing them into neat stacks of crap – but never actually getting rid of any of it.

Why is she taking piles of old clothes to the kitchen?

Well, that went totally different than I expected. When I spring clean the Goodwill store benefits and the garbage man earns his coin. A little less every year now, but still, if I don’t use it, I don’t need it. …until I do.

I’ll be moving soon. I know I need to declutter, but the thought of doing so freezes my heart and soul.

Charity organizations will be glad to store that junk for you. You can always come back and buy equivalent junk. :)

When we moved, we ended up having to put stuff in three storage units because we couldn’t find room for it in our smaller place, even though we had already gotten rid of a ton of stuff. Over a year’s time, we cleaned out those units because I knew we’d never use most of the stuff stored there. That, plus the fact that the units were expensive, and I didn’t like paying to store things we didn’t need. Sometimes I’m tempted to store things in a unit, but then sanity prevails and I just get rid of things I’d probably forget I had if they were out of sight.

Looks very familiar to me. And because I have a storage unit, friends have asked me if they could use some of my space, so I’m storing their stuff as well as my own. I’m in the process of looking for “estate sales” experts, who these days are also billing themselves as “downsizing advisors.”

I have never thought of renting a storage unit for myself. I know I would never go there to search for something I needed – I would just go buy another one and then have to find space to store it. The two organizations that I belong to that puts on live productions both have rented storage units. No theatre has room for all the stuff that piles up over the years of productions. But both organizations do go through the units looking for what is needed for the next production. One even had a cleanup last fall where we filled a dumpster with everything we thought we would never use again.

Wow! Just spent a few minutes trying to find out which words in my post that were on their banned list. I cannot figure out why a word that means piles higher over time (like snow acc…) should be banned.

I hope everyone had a great Monday.

Cathy’s renting an expensive storage unit just to save “old piles of magazines and clothes” that needs to be thrown out instead?!?

She’d be a lot better off financially if she’d do two things: first, get rid of anything that she doesn’t really want or need and won’t fit in her house rather than spending unnecessary money every month to store them in a place where she’ll (more than likely) never see or touch them ever again. And second, she needs to quit buying and bringing home so much useless junk to begin with! Magazines that she probably doesn’t have the time to read (for one thing), not to mention all those shopping trips to the mall she likes to make. Just how many clothes, shoes, boots, purses, etc., does one woman without much of a social life outside of work really “need” anyhow? Such a stupid waste of hard-earned money!

    Hi, rgcviper! :-)

    .

Hello and Happy Monday, fellow Cathy fans. Hope you all had a really great weekend and a very nice day today too! ♥

    .

B/t/w: has anyone run into a problem posting a comment because, quote: “Your comment includes word(s) on our banned list. Please edit your message and try again.”? I had to work on my comment numerous times, even though it didn’t contain anything the least bit “bad”, before it would finally go through. This must be something annoyingly new with G.C. because that’s never happened to me before. It would have been nice if their “bot” had actually been specific regarding the word (or words) it found so objectionable instead of leaving me to guess which one(s) it was! :-/

A vicious cycle, isn’t it? But, comic Cathy, you’re out of the house (as you said) and you’re clearing stuff out. Kudos!

    HI, MOM. Hello, “Cathy” Clan.
