Never thought of it this way. It’s so true. In a modern world, we could also add: “Lies give hope, truth scares.” Obviously, I disagree, but it does reflect some people’s current rose-tinted reality.
Dieting is like extreme heat – nothing worse than someone who insists on talking about it. I actually had a guy tell me once, “Have you ever noticed how hot it is in a room with a bunch of people sweating?”
I agree in general with what she’s saying (people prefer hope over the truth), although I think in this case, the real truth is that diets usually don’t work in that people see diets as temporary. What needs to be done is a permanent adjustment of what your regular eating habits are. So I can see that if one quits “dieting”, which could be a fad diet, and changes their mindset, they could lose weight. By the same token, if one quits “dieting”, which could be a healthy diet like the Mediterranean diet, and they eat unhealthy foods in excess, they could also gain weight. Too much thinking for a Friday haha…

Misery loves company. Truth hates competition.

I suspect the two who quit dieting and say they lost weight are embellishing the truth just a wee bit.
I hope everyone enjoyed this fine Friday and is looking forward to a fun weekend.

Well, at least comic Cathy is honest in this one. Still … AACK for her sake … and better luck next time with dieting.
