We’ve given up on understanding Cathy’s shopping “logic” a long time ago. Granted, I think some did this before the internet, but this strip was created when the internet was popular. Sure, there weren’t smart phones, so you had to do your comparison shopping at home, but it was still possible.

I don’t shop in stores anymore but when I did go Christmas shopping I always treated it like a resource raid into hostile territory. Get in; get out.
Every minute in a mall, you are exposed to forces designed to take your money. They can actually calculate expected dollar-expenditure-per-minute. It is has been a loooooong time since the marketplace was a genuine social experience.
If it’s the perfect gift for someone on your Christmas list and price isn’t the deciding factor, then get it and move on. If not, then leave it and keep looking. I know you’re a shopaholic that LOVES to spend all of your time and money in those expensive mall department stores you enjoy going to, but this is just bat-crap crazy-sounding ….. even for you! :-P
