Ah yes, the safety tyrants! Some true stories:After the Apollo 1 fire, NASA safety demanded that there be absolutely no flamable materials in the space capsule. The astronauts reminded them that humans ar flammable and it wouldn’t be much of a manned space mission with no humans onboard.NASA safety also demanded that all astronaut clothing had to be Nomex (the fireproof glass fiber material). The astronauts refused to wear Nomex underwear, and the safety engineers reluctantly relented. Finally, a few days before the launch of Apollo 11 to the moon, NASA Safety declared that we couldn’t land on the moon because the lunar soil might be flammable and ignite when the crew repressurized the Lunar Module before lifting off the lunar surface. The Mission Director replied “We’ll take the risk. We are going!” (I suspect that his words in private were not nearly as polite as that).
I’ve always said let not get in the way of evolution, we should remove all warning labels and let nature take its course as well prevent lawsuits over such things. That would be the answer to so many problems that people keep bringing up.
1. Would help lower the population by thinning the human herd of weak and or stupid people.2. Help keep costs down for companies instead of friviouslous lawsuits
That being said, I do truely believe without lawsuits some companies would probably kill us all, but in my area about 25 years ago, a child was killed on some old style monkey bars, the parents were not supervising but they won several million in the process all of them were removed. After the trial they were on record as saying they had plenty of kids but needed money badly and had hoped an accident would happen where one of their kids would get injured or die so they could become millionaires, then they even said they did not want all monkey bars to be removed. Some suspect because they wanted to do it again.
I’m still trying to figure out why I have to have air bags and a seat belt; but I can rocket down the highway on a motorcycle no questions asked. (In some states no helmet and others only partial helmet.)
