Bad time for a conspiracy nut strip? Europol investigation, anyone?http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/05/sports/soccer/investigation-finds-suspected-fixing-in-680-soccer-matches.html?_r=0=
Oh boy, talk about unintentionally topical. (EuroPol announced today that there were 680 cases of match fixing in what’s assumed to be FIFA-sanctioned leagues worldwide.)
As a retired soccer official, I have always maintained that the FIFA Governing Board, itself, was the problem. It is rife with corruption. Until Sepp Blatter steps down and someone comes it and thoroughly cleans house, the match fixers will continue to thumb their nose at the authorities and continue to destroy the sport . They will continue to profit at the expense of the fans.Of all the football federations under the FIFA umbrella, CONCACAF ( Confederation of North, Central, and Caribbean Football Association ), which includes the U.S., is the best run and cleanest – which is not to say that we don’t have problems but they are handled much more efficiently and more stringently regulated.
guardsgt. Please, this is not mallard fillmore, this is a strip about sports, your comments about our twice elected black president denigrate not only him but the office of president. Aside from the fact that your conspiracy about the president is so far into fantasy land that even the gop has stated that it is false.
There are probably mental cases out there who also believe every baseball game is fixed, every basketball game is fixed, and every game of poker! (Come to think of it, maybe that’s why I seldom win at poker…….)

It’s not just here. Right now international soccer is having a game-fixing scandal of its own.
