Dean: This is madness! Complete and utter insanity! Dean: The whole world has gone totally bonkers! Allow me to present the evidence... Heart: I think you just did. Dean: Right! How can J.J. Abrams direct both "star trek" and "star wars" franchises?!

I’m with Dean on this one.

JJ Abrams can direct?? Have to prove it to me…
donboyer almost 12 years ago
At least JJ can have dialogue written that isn’t the insipidly childish drivel that Lucas and Speilberg toss out — like marginal notes of teenage boys in their school workbooks. Such crap! That was what did in Star Wars — total lack of realistic dialogue for the situation. But then the writing was for the kid audience to start with.

Still don’t understand why Joss Whedon wasn’t given a shot. He only made a billion dollars for Marvel. And he can write and direct.

Are we talking about the same person who directed those wacky Airplane! and The Naked Gun! movies?

I said my piece about this yesterday, so I think I shall exercise my option to tune out the rest of this week’s strips.

I love George Lucas but can I say three words, “Howard the Duck”. I thought that J. J. Abrams version of Star Trek rocked. I just think it is funny how Disney is going to milk Star Wars for all it is worth.

Sorry – but who cares?

I don’t have anything against J.J. I will reserve judgement until I see the Star Wars movie. However, I agree with Jeffc42. After what Joss Whedon did with Firefly, I think he could have brought Star Wars to an amazing place.

Kevin Smith?
Please don’t throw rocks at me.
Whoever it is, it should be an ardent fan, but also someone with a sense of humor about it. Maybe that guy who did The Phantom Edit.

I thought the new Star Trek was adequately entertaining. Nothing brilliant, but I’ve got no problem with the alternate timeline concept. My biggest gripe was seeing Kirk dangling over cliffs and voids over and over again.

Dean has it so right. As a civilian you can, sort of, like both Star Trek and Star Wars. But even then you definitely have to pick favorites and in case of an emergency you have to pick a side and fight for it to the death (not that there is any contest, Star Trek is clearly superior) But with someone who has official influence on the fandom it is the law that they have to chose one side and stick to it until the universe collapses. And if it isn’t a law it sure should be one. No compromises and the only case where zero tolerance is actually sensible.

If Disney puts Buzz Lightyear in the Star Wars universe, I wouldn’t complain…

His startrek experience may help with the starwars thing. Maybe…

Because fans would hate for star trek and star wars to cross over.
