Ralph: I hate modern technology... Our new TV has so many different remotes, I can't figure out how to turn it on!
Norman: Never fear, dad! I'll write out step-by-step instructions to make it easy for you! Here you go!
Everything is more complicated than it used to be even using the phone, you have to go through so many steps. What happened to just picking it up and dialing a number? Oh no, you have to press this, then that, and maybe eventually the number. Sigh….
My newest TV did not have a code that my TiVo could read(among may pages of choices), so I still have to turn on/off and change volume with the TV remote, but all other functions use the TiVo.
upstairs TV is better, but cable service was here this week and left me with one new remote for converter box without taking away the old one.
I think this cable tech was a newbie. He was flummaxed by some things that I knew and was more interested in the dress displayed on the nearby mannikin (one of my designs).
It is not only the tv – it is the cable box, the video game console, the dvd player, the vhs(don’t forget the betamax). It is very confusing and not worth it to get the program you were searching for.
Between multiple game consoles, TV, receiver, HDMI switch and cable box I think I was up to 10 devices in the living room. I bought one good programmable remote and now I just push a button on it for what I want to do and it turns on the correct hardware and changes the settings. So much easier to have one remote do everything

Why would a new TV have more than one remote?
