A genius that can’t spell very well.

Earl’s tongue is planted so firmly in his cheek, I’m afraid it might poke out the other side, and that’d really scare the kids !

When I was about Nelson’s age, the smartest man I knew, besides Dad and Grandpa, could stand on his head, wiggle his ears and tell stories.

When I get older I want to be just like Earl. I already tell my grand kids that I am perfect, I think one of them believes me.

swr: I doubt it. That quote has also been attributed to Thomas Jefferson, Mark Twain, and George Bernard Shaw. In fact, spelling wasn’t even “invented” until the mid-19th century. Shakespeare spelled his own name three different ways on his will alone. It just wasn’t considered important until public education became common, resulting in a move toward standardized curriculum.
