Penn and Teller at there worst are much better than todayâs strip! I do admit that Iâd rather have Andy make a bad pun accidentally than that âglazierâ joke recently, which was out of character for Andy (being that it required a tiny bit of knowledge, and a tiny bit of vocabularyâŠâŠ..)
I must admit⊠Mahoney, Goldsmith & Garnettâs strips DO give me a good laugh every once in a while. There was one this month which had me giggling for ages (Feb 2nd 2013)
However, Reg Smytheâs strips didnât make me laugh every âonce in a whileâ
They made me laugh EVERY DAY.
I wasnât born in the 1950s when Andy first appeared in the newspaper. But thanks to internet⊠I found the classics over 3 year ago and caught up.
I got a shock at how much the drawing style had changed from 1957 to the 2000s.
Iâm an 18 year old, very feminine teen drama queen who is a MASSIVE Andy Capp fan and I always will be.
If I had a magic wand⊠I would aim it at the sky and Reg Smythe will drop back to earth and carry on his cartooning talent.
Gotta give the Man kudos for trying loanshark Burnley is only an hour away; but the other Poole?Try 3 hours! Thatâs a heady commute just to go âsweepâ . . . .must be serious, right?
Not a problem. If it were for real âsecretâ, it wouldnât be posted. I know itâs hard to see sarcasm. They donât have a button for that; that and âEditâ. The guyâs name was Bill and he had, at that time, maybe still, a 1923 Buick pick up truck. I was over his house one Saturday and got to go out for a spin. It had a straight six cylinder engine and the starter was the kind that also worked as a generator for the electrics.
That sounds pretty cool. If he still has it then thatâs good.
I think I did know you were being sarcastic but just wanted to make sureâŠ
I hope you have a brilliant day. Mine is going well so far.
And it made me laugh when you said âYour Highnessâ at the end of your other comment yesterday.
@ChalkeyeWhat I was trying to say is that I could put up with the drawing if they could come up with some decent subject matter or situations â something funny or entertaining.
Chalkeye said, about 11 opening time loans agoYou know what they say whatâs behind a good Man . . .
âIn Andyâs case, a whole lotta empties.â
Now Iâm going to pre sume You meant Their Hair colour or Personalities [and probably Purses], and not whatâs between Their Ears but either way thatâs not nice!

When Andy was first published you would get one comic per day. Now on GoComics 3 or 4 or more Smythe originals appear every day.
Buggerlugs almost 12 years ago
I think the MG&G drawing is adequate but they need to fire whoever is doing the writing.
