Click-to-enlarge image can be found here. Smaller enlargement can be found at the only work, by this artist, so far, to appear in Mr. Melcher’s blog.L’Ame du vin is also the title of a poem (2 The Soul of Wine translations are shown below it) by Baudelaire (Google translated French Wikipedia page). This says the painting was part of a recent exhibition. If I find out it’s there, I’ll post it later. The artist’s WIkipedia page and collection (more under Subcategories).
@win Actually, having seen the enlargement (thanks @mabrndt), I’m calling the black thing an inanimate part of the goblet/container. It’s chained to it. Maybe it goes inside and then serves as some kind of lid. It just happens to be in a really weird place right here, resting on her arm and ribs in this contorted pose. Just … disturbing. Next!
I received the following in an email from the museum:
L’Ame du vin is not a painting but an illustration that you can find in the book Les Fleurs du mal by Charles Baudelaire illustrated by Carlos Schwabe. It was published in Paris, for Charles Meunier (editor), 1900. One copy exists at the Bibliothèque de Genève.

As a painting I can’t say much for it; the anatomy is terrible. But that is some amazing red hair.

I’ve heard of people “pouring wine straight down their necks” but this is the first documented evidence I’ve ever seen.
