Alice: What are you playing? Petey: It's called "Fidgety Digits." I'm going to play it in a recital next month. Alice: Wow! I've never seen you drool so much! Petey: Maybe if i ate crackers right before I played it'd help.
Makes me think of my daughter’s dumping the “water” out of her horn (French horn, for the noncognoscenti), a practice which entails lowering it out of the audience’s line of vision and executing a half-turn to dump the stuff onto the floor. Yargh.
What I hate is the “bubbles” when I’m in the middle of a long passage with not enough rests to empty my horn. But, as ottod said, it IS condensation, not spit. The worst thing in it is a bit of oil from the valves and slides.
“Mr. Barr, it is not as they say, considered couth to empty your spit valve in the middle of the performance and especially not on the foot of the person sitting next to you.”

I wonder if Thompson has Synesthesia? I do, and the mental picture of sound in frame 2 is similar to how I see it.

Spit valves. A good reason to avoid sitting on the carpet in a school band room. Ewwwwwww.
