Not ecru?!?

Chartreuse chameleon really keeps you guessing.

None of these are rhymes. Only the Ecru Echidna matches the first two phonemes.

Depending on pronunciation: Duck a l’orange can rhyme with melange.But, I have a friend who always pronounces orange as ‘o-ran-gee’ as in orangutan.

And some try to rhyme people with purple, but silver is a real stumper.

Silver Liver…. ?

I learn so much from this strip.

They’re alliterations, not rhymes. Orange orangutan, silver seal, purple parrot.

An echidna is a spiny monotreme. If you ever want to insult a guinea pig or a brother-in-law, say something like, “Danders, you spiny monotreme!”

You can rhyme anything if you’re Dr. Seuss.

I did not know there was a color called ecru before today.

And now that I looked it up, it just seems to be a fancy word for white.

What about Octarine or hooloovoo?

Bet’cha Ogden Nash could’ev !

In todays education system that would be about the 8th grade . . .

Orange-Door Hinge is close enough for poetry and at least one band name.

Wait til they get to the mauve marmots

Roses are red, violets are purple, you’re as sweet as maple syruple.

I wonder if this was a joke written to see what color the colorizor would use.

Pansy Purple Pangolin?

I had the opposite problem. Had never heard of ecru, and had to Google it.

If a swallow won’t relieve you, Then a burp’ll.

I thought that ecru was kind of a camel-like hue. Turns out there are several interpretations, including virtually off white to pale pinkish tan to frank camel-color. See
