It seems as if Opal never (?) gives Earl a break. He deserves, at the very least, a cold pack and Ben Gay. I never know how to treat pain; is it with cold or heat?

She should volunteer to massage it for him.

Real “young men” do things that still cause pain when they become real “old men”.

There is nothing worse than watching an old woman try to do something that her old man knows she shouldn’t be trying to do because he once complained about having to always be the one to reach the high stuff or lift the heavy stuff. No matter how much it hurts to do it, he’ll step in and be the B.U.M.

The problem is that it’s so difficult to determine when one is ‘old’.

Old is a state of mind…

In my " state of mind " I’m 17 years old. But the bad discs in my neck and back make me feel like I’m 100 years old. As for whmll who states he can still lift his own weight, I can still lift my own weight too. Every time I get out of bed !!

But awesome one, Opal. I’ll always laugh at this strip. Even when my grey hairs start creeping in. I’ll identify with Earl & Opal a lot more then.
