91% and it takes some time to take hold so if you just had your flu shot you are just as likely to catch it as if you hadn’t. Had Zack waited two or three weeks however…

My husband gets a flu shop every year. And every year he gets the flu. I, on the other hand, do not get the shot and I have never gotten the flu. Strange!?

yep, I don’t ever get a flu shot and have not had the flu in about 30 years…..so…..knock wood……I am not going to take any flu shots even though my Dr. starts pushing them on me in August every year.

Just goes to show you, we get our flu shots every year (since the 70s) and never get the flu.

Data is not the plural of anecdote. There is plenty of actual information about vaccines out there. http://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/season/flu-season-2012-2013.htm for starters.

The last time I had the actual flu was ‘93. Haven’t had it since then and it wasn’t because of flu shots. I hate needles so I never got one and don’t see the need for one.

Everybody’s immune system is different. Some people will never get the flu, even without shots. Some are the complete opposite. But the biggest misunderstanding is the idea that the shots are for preventing the flu. While vaccine manufacturers are always happy when their product reduces the number of people who get sick, the real goal is to minimize the symptoms and to create a shield of “herd immunity” for people with the weakest systems. A few who get the shot and never get sick have actually caught the virus, but their immune cells are so well prepared that it never even slows them down.
