The Buckets by Greg Cravens for March 30, 2013
Transcript:
So... What if I don't want to be a doctor or a lawyer or somebody like that? Why should I go to college if I just want to be a musician or run a restaurant or do something easy! Because you'll compete with people who did go to college, and they'll have better odds to run you out of business. Plus- what makes you think that stuff is easy? Ok, what if I just become a cartoonist? Phlpth. Might as well start starving now.

Hungry, Greg?

I think comics should be rich. I do not see how they come up with new stuff everyday 365 days a year and for years and years. I am impressed and entertained. I can,t give you riches but I can give you my thanks

I agree with ronald rini. I repeat what I see and hear but can’t come up with anything new. To have to do it 365 days a year is amazing. As for this comic – kids -and adults even – see other people’s professions or jobs as being so easy. A lot of work, study and preparation goes into even the easiest looking jobs. Another one of those ‘walk a mile in my shoes’ things. I too give you my thanks, Greg, for a very enjoyable moment to my mornings each day.

You know how you’re not supposed to go to the grocery store when you’re hungry? Maybe you also shouldn’t draw comics. Ha ha. Thanks for the laugh.

I can chime in with ronald rini and Perkycat. As an engineer I have no problems whipping up a schematic or a mechanical drawing meeting all technical standards, but if I try to draw a horse I would get lots of comments about the turtle being out of proportion and generally ugly looking… So there is a huge gap as my skill can be crammed in by attending classes, while drawing “nature” requires inborn talent. That gift can never be obtained in a school, it can only be nurtured and honed there. Thank you Greg for each new Buckets and Hubris strip you deliver to us admirers!
