Suddenly, the Walnut Brigade Advance Team loses their appetite for alternative nourishment after discovering that those birds may be cute, but the business end of their beaks are hard, pointy, and painful when applied to various areas of a squirrel’s anatomy.
I have a special squirrel-proof bird feeder, we love watching the little rodents try to climb on it. The WHOOMP with which they land on the ground is quite satisfying. There’s also a weight setting for the perch area so big birds (pigeons – rats with wings) don’t get to eat either.
If squirrels can’t get into a feeder, they’ll take it down. The only real “squirrel-proof” feeder is one with a more easily accessed option (like tossing peanuts on the ground – that’s what works for me).

We don’t have squirrels around here but I did have to put an ant shield (special cup with water) above it to keep it free of ants. Worked well too!

rekam: Put a drop of vegetable on the surface of the water. It reduces evaporation and prevents it from becoming a mosquito nursery.
