Oh how sad and true this is. I gave several huge bags of clothes made in rhe 70’s and 80’s and even some from the early 90’s to donate to a consignment shop in our town. Everything said Made in U.S.A. and was quality, looked brand new!!!! This is a major cause of unemployment in America and until manufacturing begins here once again, this country will never recover its excellent status in the world!! Sadly, i do not think it ever will. Everything the greatest country in the world stands for is being destroyed systematically by the ‘left’. No country can survive who consumes without producing.
My Dear David 42, the proof is in the stores. I have not seen a “Made in America” label in years and years……Walmart is junk city – everything comes from China. Beware the food items…Do not buy food at the $ stores either. The proof is also in the unemployment rate. The only ones in this country whose jobs are safe – congress…..they take very good care of themselves at the expense of Americans…..
..and what is worse, they are “short sheeting” us with shirttails that are not long enough to stay tucked in, buttons that fall off and those darned bias cut plaid shirt pockets, all because it is cheaper. I buy most of our clothes on eBay. When some old plugger goes to his Reward, the grandkids sell all the goodies in his or her closet. And they are nearly new condition. Fact.
Much of the food in dollar stores here in California is unclaimed stock or brands that are not local. The only place we see Hellman’s Mayo is in these places. I guess that some of it is supposed to go to other countries, but it is ok. Food from other countries is different.
I refuse to buy anything from China, my wife will, though. The least we can do is support the countries in the America’s. I never could understand how someone in China could sell food to the US, when they buy it from us. They sold us poisoned pet food and animal feed – we should cut them off – no raw materials – only manufactured items.

So true. So sadly true. It is even sadder that they are wearing out.

You can still buy things “Made in America.” They are hard to come by, granted.

david_42: Exclude cars and military equipment, and how much manufacturing is there? Even the cars are engineered elsewhere and only assembled here.
