May I say, rest in peace Carmine Infantino. He was an artist that I always enjoyed…“the Flash”, “Adam Strange”, etc. He was an inspiring & exciting artist. A lot of my love of comics came from him.
6:00 AM, with coffee and donuts and yawns at the MCU; and then Chief Patton, Tracy’s old partner Pat, comes through with the insights to crack the case! Still some life in that one!
There’s been some crossover lately. I’m sure others have noticed—a Tracy themed jumble last Friday. And this jumble is clearly the work of the Jumble artists.
Just spotted the ad for the Dick Tracy eBook. How long has it been there? I wouldn’t make a good detective—too unobservant. Also, is there any chance of a book on actual paper that I wouldn’t need to buy a device to read?
When I was a kid, I played baseball, basketball, football, rode bicycles, shot marbles, in the warm months every day we swam in the Monongahela River or at Marilla swimming pool, delivered newspapers 7 days a week long before anyone was out of bed. I started hunting with my dad at about 9 or ten, and can’t remember when I started fishing. I cut grass for several families, worked in the garden each summer and oh yeah shoveled snow every winter (still do). I have never to my recollection said that I was bored. I probably was bored in grade school don’t remember being so. I went to the YMCA almost daily for years until it closed in Morgantown West Virginia. I NEVER read a comic book until I was a parent unless it was “The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers” (and Fat Freddy’s Cat). When someone says get a life, You can bet it ain’t no comic or funny page. It means learn how to be a dad, keep a job, remain humble to the humble, Slap those who have it coming, pay your bills, Never run from a fight, always be kind to animals and kids, don’t ever be racist, respect those that are in authority. When in doubt build stout and make sure that everything is straight, true, plumb & level and sound. Work clean, control the water and classify all materials (keep things separate) and don’t make a mess and or clean up you own mess. Always close your eyes when kissing your sweetheart. be humble before God and He will lift you up in due season. I just felt like rambling on a little today. If you are offended please do get over it.
You guys make me feel young again. When I grew up, I loved Dick Tracy… the crazy villians, the clever names, the two-way wrist radio, and Tracy’s bravery and pluck. For years, the prior cartoonists seemed to miss the point and misdirected the cartoon. Now you guys have it back on track. Great stories, square jawed hero, and well drawn panels. Good job. (Hey tell me something. What newspapers still carry the strip. I am in Florida and none of the local papers carry Tracy. Who does?) Tom Davis – A lifetime fan of Dick Tracy
Guess I’m a bit older than most of you. My earliest artistic influences were Noel Sickles, Roy Crane, Fred Harman, Hal Foster, Alex Raymond, Milt Caniff, Will Eisner and V. T. Hamlin … just to name a few. In later years Alex Toth was much admired. There are so many really good artists working in comic books to day. The modern day syndicated comic strip also has a few good artists … but far fewer than in days past. Just my opinion, of course.
Oh, for those who are computer illiterate, “format c:” means to erase the entire contents of the hard drive, by preparing the disc for storing data. The student meant to type “format a:” which is prepare a floppy disk for storing data. So yea, the entire school hard drive, and all of the work of all of the students, was erased, one week before finals. We had back-ups of a lot of our work, on floppy, but the motion paths were to big to store on a floppy disk. I do have some stills on slides though. (sigh)

Can anyone make out the word balloon in the Jumble puzzle? I can’t see what the cartoon character is saying, even when I enlarge the strip today.

Guess the Jumbler can draw, too…. and does a good likeness of himself….

Carmine Infantino takes me back to my childhood. My other favorities were Jim Starlin, Jim Steranko and Frank Brunner.

Maybe I am missing something, but how could Jumble’s puzzle end up spelling jewels when there are no J’s anywhere to be found?

Might be a ruse. If it’s obvious, it might be a distraction. Riddler was good at that, like Basin St Banquet /Basin St Bank Wet..

A very late start for me today! Is that an ice pack Chief Patton is holding on his head? My eyes can’t tell.

I like this detective work, too! I know the Moon Maid story is supposed to start soon, but does anyone know when exactly?
