Stop being so catty, Mildred. Most of the neighbors don’t bother dressing up; they just act the part.

    I…um….

    I mean…. is that a problem??

    Just because a person or two…or 27 … dresses up like an animal….or a banana…or …I mean….isn’t this Ballard Street?Cos I was just about to take Mrs. Hensley’s dog for a walk ……..

    Isn’t that OK?

Now that the weather is getting a little more Spring-like, maybe more people will dress for Whimsical Wednesday….

No one was feeling too whimsical in all that snow and cold…so I expect Stephen will fit right in.

    As for antennas….

Hey! I still use one! It’s stationary, and not very tall…and so old that when we went digital, even with a converter box, I lost all but one channel.

I’d LOVE to replace it with a newer one with a motorized rotor…but I don’t have anyone to climb up on the roof.Basic cable here is about $50 a month…and I hardly watch TV anyway.I chose to get a smartphone instead.

Maybe I should be dressing as a dinosaur….

And Shika….you can have all the burnt toast you like….

There’s a big box of it for you in my salon kitchen…As for your kitty….It doesn’t look like a bobcat OR a cerval….I don’t know who labeled the picture…but I would say it’s a caracal….also know as a desert lynx…And to curl those ear-tufts would be very expensive…Before I could give you a quote I’d have to make some calls….you’d have to cover both the extra insurance…and the deductible on the hospital bills.

I went to a Halloween party one time. I did not wear a mask or costume. The hostess asked being somewhat smarty about it “and what are you dressed as?”I responded “The most dangerous thing in the world. A human being.” Shut her up quickly.

I would not mind wearing my cockatoo costume more often, but have not replaced the mask since the moths ate it. I still have plenty of feathers from Cuddles (as well as assorted accent feathers from my own and friends birds) and I still have my lace slip and the sheer layers too (up in a closet). This was a Halloween photo with my lover’s oldest daughter and her husband. Cuddles as always goes to the man.

Stephen is just a sheep in wolf’s clothing.Nothing unusual for Ballard Street. My parrot, Pierre le Nez ( aka Pete the Beak ), often dresses up like an American Bald Eagle – especially on patriotic holidays. And the Mungo twins from my crew on the galleon, often like to dress up as a Palomino Pony, although there’s always an argument as to who’s front and who’s back.

Now that I bought all those groceries yesterday, I can cook a lot more stuff. I will probably eat the last 3 almond crackers with my breakfast omelet, spinach and V8. I will make 2 more batches later and ASAP the new recipe for muffins with the same almond flour mixed with zuchini and carrot (and brown rice flour). I’ll use stevia instead of any other sweet, and apple will be a little healthier than raisons. Report later on sucess (or lack). If the next GF pizza is no better, that one is totally to the BIN!!

All this cooking! I am going to mix up 2 more whole recipes of my crackers. As I don’t eat any sweets right now, the topping of whole seeds is yummy (just the good strong flavors of anise, caraway and dill) but the dough will be flavored with oregano and tyme in the light and cinnamon and nutmeg in the dark. Do not expect to do the muffins today because I also need time for my cardio, and the pool is still dirty from the storm Monday. I’ll clean out my strainers soon and run the pump some extra hours.

Shirley saw this coming, bless her heart; she has tried so hard. Stephen has worn the same pair of polka dot underwear for a week. Yesterday he made tuna fish sandwiches, ran everything through the blender and poured Shirley’s into a pita bread pocket with one of those little plastic ice cream spoon stuck in the side, then served it on a bed of lettuce in a shallow soup bowl, what was he thinking? Tuesday, he went out for doughnuts, came back two hours later with one raspberry doughnut and half a dozen brownie, all he would say is, “I’ll not do that again”. Sometimes Shirley thinks he’s not having the same conversation. Sometimes she’s sure. Monday he went out to wash the car, came back with a hair cut….does he do these things on purpose? Sunday afternoon, he announced, his world view had taken a turn and gotten lost. Shirley tries to nod and smile, but it getting harder all the time.

Is anybody besides me having trouble with this site?

I probably won’t be able to see your answer… but maybe I will later.

The comic pages will open, and show a comments count.Ballard Street has 50 …. but none of them are visible!

I can comment…. unless this doesn’t post. And I can read the most recent post, but no others, by clicking “comments” under the strip on my comments page.Which means I’ll probably only see THIS one for a while.

    sniffle ….

I do have to leave for the day very soon….Hope I get to catch up when I get back!

And Bev….I saw what you said about a certain fireman!

I never click reply. If I want to answer someone I type in their name.I can’t see ANY posts when I open the forum page.

I can see the LAST post only, which, till I post this, is from Dazz….by clicking “comments” under the strip on the page with ALL my comics…. Also, late last night I was alone on Ballard Street…. again…. sigh….And when I went to look at another strip I got an “updating” message from GoComics asking whether I’d like to play a game instead….

Then the whole site went down.Nice update!

I’ve been waiting all day to get back onto the comics…haven’t been able to since 7:30 am! I think GoComics wanted me to play some games with them, because they kept directing me to their game site. No, no, no……I’m wayyyyy too busy for fun and games…..I want to get down to the serious business of the comics!

Sheriff , I love the idea of a Ballard Booze and Blooze Festival !! I think I can bring back a couple of the acts that performed at your inauguration and last year’s Memorial Day Parade! And, I’ve been known to belt out a few songs myself!

So, we’ll have to decide on a date, time and place…and I’ll have to get in touch with some of the performers and also check the upcoming events at SCHAABS. I heard the Square Dancers want to do another weekend, but I’m not sure I’ll have them back. We’re still finding yellow feathers everywhere!

Sheriff! How’s your hat holding together??

The department secretary had a few acres out on the edge of town, and would often host parties for the Holidays. Hayrides and campfires for Halloween. One year I set up a hayride stop. I was suited up as the shabby wolf from the old cartoons, timed spotlight and boombox. I performed a “Modern Dance” routine to the tune of “Little Red Riding Hood”. Often menacing the riders.
