How come Michael and I are always dressed up and all these old photos? It's not uncommon for people to dress up when they're having their picture taken. But we're almost never this dressed up. Well, I certainly don't want to remember you to as tykes dressed up in grubby jeans and T-shirts. Misty water-colored memories of the way we worked. Oh, stop it.

Yes, all the pictures I have of relatives from way, way back then are dressed in their Sunday best. I would have liked to see pictures of their everyday lives.

Having just gone through two albums of photos from the very late 20’s to the mid 50’s – I attest that very few people were dressed in Sunday best. Except when they had to. Otherwise – it was kids – scrabbling over things to get their pics taken. All very cool.
