How to tell the system is AFU: I had to go to jail once for a failure to appear on an expired drivers license; the police wouldn’t book me because my license was expired. Go figure…

I just figured out that I might have a warrant of for me, for failure to appear for jury duty in Florida, because I neglected to notify them, that I am living in South America.

The sign is on the door, folks.…That means that there is “No Loitering” after one goes through that door.…If there was no loitering in the cell, the sign would be posted on the wall.

Piffle. I got a notice my draft exempt status was being revoked as a result of my having dropped out of college and moved out of state. The notice was delivered to me at Defense Language Institute in Monterey.

I was caught in such a situation, “You must do this, but if you do, You will be penalized.”

Bureaucracy. Took me 20 years to get my W-2 form to list me as married instead of single. I spoke to everyone on every level I could think of, telephoned, emailed, or postal-service mailed them every year.

Bureaucracy … I know someone who fought the Feds for three years over a green card they refused to mail to a PO box. There are places in this country, though, where there is no mail delivery, and you have to have a PO box to get mail.

They mailed it to the only address they considered valid, the street address, and the PO sent it back as undeliverable.

Three years, AND a new fee, for their error. I hear they have fixed that, though, and will now accept a PO Box address. Not sure whether you should count on that, though.
