Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for May 09, 2013
May 08, 2013
May 10, 2013
Transcript:
Phoebe: I can't believe I don't get to be in the play! Dad: I know, Phoebe. I'm really sorry. If it helps, you'll always be MY ladybug. Phoebe: I hafta throw up again, but I want to make it clear it's not from what you just said. Dad: I would have wondered.
Oh its just pure adorableness. Though Iâm still waiting for 1 of 2 pay offs either the play goes in a way that makes Phoebe glad she missed it or Marigold does some thing to cheer her up. I think if this was the Cosby show the whole family would have hosted the play in there living room.
Well, âoctopiâ is somewhat more justified than âplatypiâ, because âoctopusâ, though originally Greek, was imported into English from Latin. But the fact is that âoctopusesâ is the normal English plural.
âOctopodesâ and âplatypodesâ are the correct Greek-style plurals, but unless youâre a college professor, youâre better off not using them (especially since â-podesâ has two syllables).
This comic is actually a bit of a precursor to Marigoldâs misadventures with trying to get into Grass: The Musical. Man, Phoebe and her Unicorn donât have great luck with plays, do they?

Frame (Cell?) number 3 is one of the more touching ones in the entire series.

I just love that the dad has a ponytail and a gut. Props for not putting another glasses-wearing, rail-thin, balding dad into the comic world!
