Make him do his own laundry for awhile along with a couple other extra chores until he gets it.

What’s more annoying: washing gum, lip balm or a pen?

Whoever did the wash (I assume Peter, as the stay-at-home dad) has the responsibility for the gum, not the kid. It’s Laundry 101: you gotta check all the pockets on all the clothes as part of your wash ’n dry checklist. So send yourself to your room, Pete.

My wife collects napkins from cafes. I occasionally forget to check her pockets before washing her coats.

@Tony, I vote with Bev and Ryan. Thin paper stuck on everything is the worst (and I do it once in a blue moon- the others have not happened). I had my kids do their own laundry because they were so nearly the same size that the boys got mixed with each other (they wanted things kept apart).

My dad once left a half-smoked cigar in his pants pocket. Gave my mum quite a start when she lift the lid on the washer.
