Must be a generational thing. When some of us were kids, it was normal to make jelly bread or mayonnaise sandwiches. It was quick, and required no cooking. Common among less wealthy families.

This is an American comic. Adjust your vocabulary accordingly.

Outside of Peanuts I’ve never heard anyone refer to it as a “jelly bread sandwich”. I’d just call it a jelly sandwich. The bread is implied.

Sweet intentions. They’re probably good and soggy now. Better grab a fork, Linus. :)

Soggy is right. I used to take PBJs to school on a rare occasion, and the side with jelly on it was always disgusting. After a week or even a few days, that can’t be good. Also, I’ve never put just jelly on bread before. It always had PB with it. And anyone doing so is just after the sugar anyway. Just teach your kids to go for the real thing. Sprinkle some sugar on bread and have at it. yum.

For those who don’t know, “jelly” in the UK is essentially what those in the US know as gelatin, aka Jello [it’s a bit different, but close enough for comparison] while “jelly” in the US is a spread similar to jam except it is made from juice rather than fruit solids so it is transparent instead of opaque. Therefore, [in the US] you technically won’t be able to find strawberry and raspberry jellies or grape and apple jams, even if some refer to them that way. This has been your daily dose of [mostly] useless knowledge. =]
