If you can find a connection to royalty – not that hard, just maybe 8-10 generations back – you’ll find that you’re related to the likes of El Cid, Lady Godiva (yes, she really lived), Old King Cole (King Coel, 1st-2nd centuries), Charlemagne, and all the way back to Shem and Japheth, and maybe even Ham, with most of the links back to them.
Many of my ancestors came over to get away from the law and tried to leave as little trace as possible. Even so, there are plenty about whom we know more than we wish. People who think there are any they are not related to have never considered how hard it is to know all your relatives just ten generations back.2 – 1 generation back, your two parents4 – 2 generations back, your four grand parents8 – 316 – 432 – 564 – 6128 – 7256 – 8 512 – 91024 – 10th generation back, hard to account for all of thoseGo back another generation and you are pushing over a million ancestors simply in that generation, not counting incest, and it would be hard for them to know they weren’t kin so you can expect a little .-In fact, you don’t get all that far back until you have more ancestors in that generation than there were people on earth.

We’re all related somehow – which is a concept some people never grasp.

Considering Herman’s relationship with his wife, when he said that last line I can imagine him adding, " … either." , meaning her. :p
