Basin-Robbins that wasn’t. (What the heck is spumoni any way?)

Spumoni.. ah.. haven’t had that in years. It’s usually 3 layers of different flavors: chocolate, cherry and pistachio. Usually there’s candied fruit and/or nuts in it as well. Yum.

Spumone, plural spumoni, is a molded Italian ice cream made with layers of different colors and flavors, usually containing candied fruits and nuts. Typically it is of three flavors, with a fruit/nut layer between them. / Wikipedia

Spumoni is one of those “invented” flavors, for when folks get tired of actual flavors.

Bwahahaha! Have not read that or “Doon” in many, many years. Now to find where it is on my bookshelves.

Not sure, but on my tiny screen, the one between ‘banana’ and ‘licorice’ looks like a HAZ-MAT symbol. Just saying….

I love chocolate with peanut butter chunks and triple chocolate overload or death by chocolate. Sometimes it’s so hard to pick only one flavour in these places. But my dad would take us to Baskin-Robbins and while my brother and I were checking out all the flavours, my dad would order vanilla for himself.

My favorites are coffee and vanilla. Guess I’m a Plain Jane!

Ahhh: Spumoni. Back in the day, a person could get the best Spumoni at the Pizza Kings in Brookings.

My favorote is Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.

Many years ago I worked at a national chain ice cream restaurant and every weekday a mother would bring her 4 year old daughter in for ice cream after picking her up from day care. The mother would review the flavors available, then look at her daughter’s outfit and would order what would match. The kid never cared what flavor was ordered; she ate most of it before deciding if she liked it or not. The tough one was a purple shirt – we settled on black raspberry after bring a sample dip over to the table to compare.

Have you noticed the price of ice cream cones now-a-days? Holy milk cow! Oh, and when I was growing up, a lot of times my mother did not have the nickle to buy each of us an ice cream cone. My sister and I can remember checking the cushions of the chairs and couch for pennies for ice cream. When all else failed, we went begging for pennies from a neighbor.

After the first day of kindergarten, we took our son to get ice cream.And discovered the joy of getting chocolate stains from a blue shirt.

I remember the creamy flavour of mallow rolls…I used to know how to unroll them into a cone without touching the ice cream. only 3 flavors vanilla Chocolate and strawberry mmmm!!!!

I think peach would’ve matched her outfit as well. My favorite is cookies and cream, but my fave at Dairy Queen is peanut buster parfait.

Liz seems perfectly happy with cherry. If she wanted something else, she would have piped up and it looks very much like she’s enjoying her ice cream.
