Last week, Pab started an arc MOCKING the highly offensive subject of racism. It was hilarious and the mockery was well-deserved. Yet, mid-week, the story arc disappeared. Because, you apparently cannot portray a Klansman even in order to make fun of his outlandish and outmoded beliefs. It’s not PC.
YET this week, the strip can take on a network percieved as conservative, and I very much doubt the storyline will be pulled. I expect anti-Fox-News jokes through Saturday. But no more jokes making fun of Klansmen. I’m sure Paula Deen will get worked in there somehow. Cause, see, that IS acceptable. To the mob.
Sigh. Another shallow attack on a profound philosopher. Objectivism holds to reason as man’s primary virtue and means of survival, to individual rights as inviolable, to your own life and happiness as your moral aim. But after millennia of domination by philosophies that reject all Ayn Rand’s principles it is too difficult for most people to overcome the fallacies they have absorbed.
Rand does provide an easy teat. If anyone tells you how much they admire her, or that they take Objectivism seriously, then you know you need not take any further opinions by that person seriously.
Interesting how she preached that people should think for themselves, and at the same time branded as evil anyone whose thoughts differed from hers in any way. Not very rational.
Consider also Elmer Gantry, Kathryn Kuhlman, L Ron Hubbard, Mesmer, Rasputin(or Putin for all that), or even Roddenberryans as similar reasons to close minds to foolish, childish thoughts, although some of my sources are far superior people and thinkers than Rand.

The pretense is that the people like this guy don’t really want to live. The truth is that she (in this case both Dagny & Rand) just wanted justification for killing him. In Objectivism’s more academic form, this justifies suffering among the masses. They are to weak to deserve any better.In the real world, Rand’s disciples use this thinking to excuse their own sociopathic behavior. The other lie that most of Objectivism’s adherents tell themselves is that they would be just as successful no matter the circumstances of their births.
