Man: Your food, sir. Pig: Eeesh. What is that? Man: Fish. It's what you ordered. Pig: But why does it look like that? Man: Because it's a fish. Would you like it to look like a cow? Pig: No. But I want it to look like something that wasn't alive. Man: Sir, we're a three-star michelin-rated restaurant. That's how fish is served. Pig: No, no, please...just make it look like food. Good old magical food that comes from nowhere and magically appears on my plate. Man: Alright, alright. Close your eyes and gimme a second. Pig: Thanks. Man: Whhhhhhhy yooooooou kiiiiiilll meeeeeee? Whhhy yooou- Pig: AHHHHHHHHH. Man: That probably wasn't consistent with michelin food-handling standards. Rat: Gimme that. I want to chase him home.

I’d give that waiter a big tip; even Frank Nelson couldn’t have done that better.:There’s a little of the Rat in all of us.

Sounds like a fish story.

No tip for that waiter!………but I’m sure he felt it was worth it!

It’s a good thing that Pig didn’t order the calamari.

This is, along with religion, probably the primary reason people go vegetarian. On an unrelated note, this comic is hilarious.

Being a Michelin 3-star restaurant (Pig can afford to eat at that kind of place?!), they probably barely cooked that fish, if at all. And that waiter should be fired! —-At about 350º for three hours….I am totally on Pig’s side today.

Good thing Pig didn’t order one of those seafood towers…@Sisyphos, I hear you! I have a curry cookbook by an Indian “superchef” who advocates cooking fish “for just a minute or two”. Hmmm…apparently he doesn’t use fish from the Ganges, eh!

Poor presentation.

If you think about food, you will starve. Let’s think about laws. I could stand to lose some weight there.
Destiny23 over 11 years ago
Would Pig have been happier if the waiter had employed the “A Christmas Story” solution to improving the presentation of food with a head?!
tangcameo over 11 years ago
Sounds like Stephan ordered the fish recently.
Gilbert over 11 years ago
Yes….poor presentation. No flowers or leaves or thin line of drizzled sauce on the plate.

EXCELLENT!!I do not like it when people try to purposefully forget that they are eating animals. I am not a vegetarian, I eat meat. I am also not a bleeding heart who cries about “meat means murder” or anything radically stupid like that, but at the same time I do not appreciate the disconnect from other life forms whose lives were rather important to them.

Why would a tire manufacturer be rating restaurants?

There would be a white tablecloth at a 3* Michelin restaurant.

Good thing he didn’t order the pork. that really would freak Pig out.

In a way Pig is right. Food should look like food, not what it was before it became food. In particular pigs roasted on a spit with an apple placed in their mouth creep the !@#$ out of me. I could NEVER eat a pig like that.

And now, we find that the seas are running dry of fish to feed our ever-exploding population. Good luck to us. Fish farming turns out to be breeding-holes for disease and bio-hazards for the pore fish and ultimately you’n me. I hold no hope for us and the ever-present “what? you only have ONE child??” sorts..

Pig wouldn’t do well in a Japanese restaurant specializing in seafood.

I don’t think Pig will be eating THERE again.LOL xxx

Of course, food in this strip is normally invisible, with all dinner plates apparently empty. So when Pig says he wants the fish to “look like food”, the waiter could just take it away and eat it himself. I’m glad he came up with this alternative solution, though!
hcr1985 over 11 years ago
Pig’s off to Long John Silvers, where the fish looks more familiar!!

Pig wanted fish sticks.

I’ve been a vegetarian since the 70s and this one hits home.

Actually, I have no issue with killing things in order to eat them. I’m reasonably certain I could do it myself, if I had to (so long as I didn’t have to raise it first). But your food, it should not gaze upon you with dead eyes.

However in Malaysia and Africa they certainly are considered a delicacy. A Senegalese friend told me that when she was growing up, she was told by the adults in her family that fish heads were “bad” for little kids. Now, she realises, they were keeping them for themselves.
