This is Peppermint Patty’s first appearance? I wouldn’t take that bet, Roy. She does get carried away by her enthusiasm.

Why can’t Peppermint Patty write to her own acquaintances?

Wow. I’d forgotten that Charlie Brown met her through Roy.

Ha ha! How the meanings of words change over time! Cue the angry misunderstandings!

Peppermint Patty must have taken lessons from Lucy…….or was it the other way around?

Oh no not Peppermint Patty!

Marcie appeared much later than Peppermint Pattie. Some time in the mid-70s, I think though I could be wrong. I remember it because they met at camp, and it was about the time I first went to summer camp which would put it about 1976.

I was never a P.P. fan. Given a choice between her and Lucy, I’d take Lucy.

I didn’t think someone would be a swinger that long. Isn’t that illegal?

It’s funny. It seems most of you have already read all the strips and know all the characters as they appear. This is my first through the Peanuts strips. It’s ok, I can deal with the spoilers. :D

Swinging back then meant more than just being on a swing. She can swing a mean bat though. lol

Where are you coming up with that nonsense. P.P. had a thing for C.B., but he didn’t feel the same way about her.

You have to remember that Peppermint Patty is 7 or 8 years old. A bit early to guess that she is a lesbian. I have seen some 8 year old tomboys grow up to be stunningly gorgeous 18 year old girls.

Little did Roy know that he could get rid of Peppermint Patty’s attentions and transfer them so easily to someone else.

Yeah, they made them change the theme song to the Flintstones, now they have “a GREAT old time.”

Yep, this sums up Peppermint Patty nicely.

Hi, Peppermint Patty!

To be honest I never cared much for P.Patty. Her tendency to not listen to others annoyed me. I only liked her when she was with Marcie.

Maybe it is regional. I, too learned it as a form of arm wrestling.

No one seems to have mentioned that Peppermint Patty doesn’t live in Charlie Brown’s (and his usual gang’s) neighborhood.

I’ve never saw Peppermint Patty in the strip before but I did hear she was going to appear in it soon.I’ve only been a Peanuts reader for over 2 years.xxx

I’m a fan of P. Patty, tho not sure I’d like to “swing” with her.

Peppermint Patty lives in a nearby neighborhood – wait ‘til her baseball team starts coming over to crush CB’s team! And later, the classic “Ha-Ha Herman” game storyline when she lets Marcie know her true feelings for Charlie Brown.

I don’t remember ever seeing where Peppermint Patty first appeared. She’s just always been there.

Well that took on an unfortunate connotation in the intervening years.

Indian wrestling is a form of arm-wrestling done with the two contestants standing side by side, but facing opposite directions. So, if you’re looking at two people Indian wrestling, you’ll see two people side by side, but the one on the right will be facing you while the other will have his back to you. The two contestants then grip each other’s right hand and have their right foot flush against the opponent’s right foot. Without making contact with any other part of your opponent’s body, the object is to try to unbalance your opponent, while he, of course, tries to do the same to you. The first one who falls, or at least loses his footing so that he has to move his feet to maintain his balance, is the loser.

Yes, there is a form of leg wrestling called Indian wrestling, but that’s NOT what the kids were calling Indian wrestling in 1966.

I seriously doubt that the Indian wrestling refers to the leg wrestling version. Can you imagine the hue and cry that would have gone up if Charles Schultz even SUGGESTED such a thing between a boy and a girl in his strip? It’s the arm-wrestling version, folks. Please stop trying to disinform people.

I like ALL the Peanuts characters. Each of them is unique in his/her own right.
