My toaster is red (like most of my countertop things) and it does go to higher settings than I’d ever need. Some places may have a poor source of power, but it has more to do with the bread. As I currently spread nothing on it, I like it very crisp (just not quite burnt).

6 on the toaster dial is for getting the embossing powder to stick to wet ink. Just lower business card in for a few seconds with some tweezers
