Noises: POP POP POP
Aunt Fritzi: When I was a girl, my mom and I would put the popcorn on the stove and watch it cook-- Just like we're doing now.
Nancy: Didn't the bags catch fire?
Noises: POP POP
Ah, the memories…..a layer of kernels, a splash of cooking oil, cover, place on heat, shaking all the while until the popping slowed down. Then pour REAL melted butter over it.Quite a production.
Remembering the great Cowboy Jack today. Cowboy Jack Clement. I’d tell you about him if you didn’t know him….but that would deprive you of the fun of discovering him for yourself.
I just started popping it on the oven Way better than those cancerous bags. Anyhoo. A little bit of coconut oil and then when it’s done popping a little bit of grated Parmesan cheese. OMG Good!
Thank you Guy, for remembering Cowboy Jack. I was fortunate to see him perform on the Marty Stuart Show a few days after his death. Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and many others might not be so well known today if not for him.

“And while you’re at it, why do you still have those large black CDs?”…..

If you just “watched it cook”, it would burn. The pot had to be shaken until all the corn was popped.

I like the pop corn popped in a kettle much better than this microwave “stuff”.

I’ve remembered using the old microwave oven to cook popcorn. Now I use the hot air popper and have pop corn all over the place.

I like the old way of popping corn too! Then you can add lots of melted butter and some salt.

Love my stir crazy…. Just add butter when the corn begins to pop

Reminds me of an old joke – Q: How many (ethnicity deleted)s does it take to make popcorn? – A: 5; 1 to hold the pot and 4 to shake the stove! ☺

On the stove, my kind of popcorn!
