I use to fishing with my uncle Earl when I would visit him in Wilmington, North Carolina back in the late 60s early 70s. I noticed one day he dropped his line in and it had no bait. I asked him why.He said “Why ruin a good day catching fish when I can sit out here on the boat with my favorite nephew, chew tobacco, and just enjoy the day.” I never said a word. He was a WWI vet. The only survivor in his artillery unit after a German attack in the Ardennes. I was the only one he would ever tell about it. He cried every time he told me. He remember up to his death each one of their names and where they were from. His wife would not let him chew tobacco at home so fishing with me was the “escape”.

Guess it’s not Catch & Release since the fisherman has his creel on.
