Hilarious, I love this strip. Reading one of the Treasuries right now and the annotations make it even funnier.

Gomer’s last words were, “Stop the world! I want to get off!”.

I had a black fish when I was a kid, and it turned into a frog?

Bad week to be a minor cartoon character, especially in this strip.

I used to go to the bank every Friday afternoon.There was a pet store in the shopping center. A young woman bought some small tropical fish, and rather than leave them in the car where it might be 120 degrees, she brought them into the bank.I commented that it was really nice of her to take her fish for a walk, they probably don’t get out muchUnfortunately she was very embarrassed.

Gomer had a bad attitude. But I’m not so sure that pushing against the edge of his bowl would propel the bowl and wagon. I do like the fish leash though.

Not so long ago . . .well . . yes, it was a long ago . . some college kid would welcome the chance to give Gomer mouth to mouth . . . ☻

Now Pig has to slurp up the water as fast as he can and spit it all back into the bowl. Otherwise, it will be a long dry walk home for poor Gomer.
