Tiffany: "How would you like to help me plan a spirit week dance?"
Tiffany: "It's like a fancy party! We pick a theme, make decorations-doesn't that sound like FUN?!"
Child: "Do we get to come?"
Tiffany: "Uh...."
Child 2: "I HAVE A SNOW WHITE DRESS!!"
Luann! B2UB⊠â Cindy Rella Party People⊠âDedicated to planning, supplying and serving all of your party needsââŠ. âAnd donât worry! Our Employees are trained and expected to not even try to enjoy themselves, so that you can focus on your fesive affair!â⊠âCindy Rella.. No fun for us, means more fun for you!â â Ken Derr GardeningâŠ. âProviding your basic horticultural needs, with dependable help at the lowest cost, with childr- uhâŠ. Fresh and youthful labor!ââŠ. â and byâŠSnowden Jobs⊠âWeâll help you outsource your needs, with our⊠âcreative processâ⊠and convenient staffing method- yeah, thatâs it- creative and convenient!ââŠ
âŠyouâre going to dash their little hopes when you tell them they canât come. ^I think she probably just did realize she backed into a âtight spaceâ, that she canât seem to get out of, there! Hence the âstraining blue eyesâ, and as Archie would put it, her struggle to âstifle itâ⊠Lol!
âŠMiss Hannigan from Annie has nothing on Miss Tiffany⊠^But at least, unlike the orphanâs lament in their song in âAnnieâ, Tiffany was willing to give them treats⊠donât think sheâd actually kick them, though⊠hmmm⊠well⊠at least not really hardâŠ
LOL! Yeah, that was hilarious, and ironic, to boot! â I remember, too, the one time that she actually got up the courage to tell Archie to stifle it!
Tiff, you stuffed your foot in it waaaaaayyy too much, this time. Why donât you let the kids tell you what they want, and see if you can work on that.
BTW, Exam 1 of 2 passed! Exam 2 of 2 same time next week.
âInstead of Goofus and Gallant, we have Tiffany and Luann to show the wrong and right way to do things.â--Interesting analogy, and spot on, only Tiffany(goofus) doesnât grimace.
What is a âspirit week dance?â If itâs associated with high school cheerleading, itâs a no. But a Halloween costume party might not be a bad idea.
Yep, you pretty much pegged the roles that Tiffany and Luann play in Gregâs little daily melodramas. Perhaps Tiffany should wear a stovepipe hat and a giant handlebar mustache, and Luann should wear a Royal Canadian Mounted Police Uniform, as a clue to any new readers. But fear not â Luann Doright will save the day and rescue this class of Little Nells from the clutches of evil Tiff. âCurses,â she says, âfoiled again!!!â
At my alma mater, the answer would be yes. They would get to help make the decorations for the float, attend the parade, and stay up late enough to cheer the team to victory. They would get to help paint the windows of the stores and businesses downtown and accompany the float to the dump on Saturday morning where they would dismantle the float and keep something from it for a souvenir, plus they would get to help wash the windows free of the paint. Then they could be treated to a hot dog picnic in the park. Do you think Tiff could arrange it? No, she is just too âme, me, meâ.
It would appear the Gov. of California was listening to us!
Just saw this Internet article, indicating that Gov. Jerry Brown of California has signed into a law a bill banning ârevenge Porn.â It is classified as a misdemeanor, 6mos. + $1,000.00 fine. It would seem that Tiff might have been charged with this, if the law were active during her âlocker roomâ incident (and if they charged her as an âadultâ).
And thanks, all, for the congrats! Busily working on Exam 2 of 2 now. Hard stuff.
I graduated in â58. I started hearing about Spirit this and that from my kids in the 70s and 80s. These kids will party for anything. and they called us âwild teensâ. Fatâs Domino, Elvis, BB King and Lil Richard where are you. Do they still slow dance?
There have been a lot of ideas exchanged about why Tiffany wanted this job. Some suggested that she owed her parents a lot of money because she charged a big donation to the drama camp. Others thought they only reason she wanted the job was because Luann wanted it. Now that sheâs tried to recruit kids to work on her High School Spirit Dance decorations, I see another motive. A lot of kids volunteer for activities like planning and creating the decorations for a dance as part of building up their list of âcreditsâ in the yearbook, to show how much theyâve done. Others do that so they can include that info in a college or future entry level job application. And still others will volunteer for this kind of activity because it brings them into contact with those we used to call the âpopularâ kids. But not all who volunteer actually plan to do the work. I think Tiffany wanted the job of assisting with the care of grade school kids after school so she could put the kids to work creating those decorations, and she could then take credit for that work.
But this is a grade school where Luann and Tiffany are working after hours. Grade schools donât usually have dances for their kids, and spirit activities are more for high school age kids. Itâs not about Halloweâen, itâs partly about football homecoming and partly about team or school spirit.
Have to steal a creation from Susan Sunshine or StelBel for that anointing of glitter. Nobody has shown me how to accomplish that.
BTW, today is Riverhawkâs B-day and I seem to be the only one so far to wish him one over at BS. Everyone was so kind for mine; I hope he gets more greetings.
Thatâs when you have to watch them more closelyâŠ
The wife and I still slow dance, though :)
Actually, not very much slow dancing, anymore, A year ago, I happened to chaperone my nieceâs âsweet 16.â Pretty much very active dancing, line dancing, and the like (think: âIâm sexy and I know itâŠâ). They really didnât need âslow dancingâ to do things weâd need to be âwatching.â But most at my nieceâs party were very well behaved, I must say. Only a little bit of âsnogging,â here and there.
Thereâs an actual âNational Talk Like A Pirate Dayâ nationally, which was a week or two, ago⊠I believe any school ones will have missed out by that time⊠Ours never did one, at least during my time there⊠AAARGH, so frustrating, Lol!⊠;-)
âWill our heroine Luann, realize what nefarious things Tiffany is plotting and set things right in time by inviting the kids to come to the dance?â Oh, that is good! ;)
