That “old dump of an apartment” has the historical value of the old dump of a former railroad section house I grew up in. Put some of that value into your heart, Gretchen. It’s precious, and a pox on anyone who even thinks to raze it.
" I thought the Skinner family lived over the garage"~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Place looks like a ‘downtown police station’ in the Bronx.. And last I checked, they lived over the garage in a rural town. My head hurts.

The globe lights were common in upscale areas of cities. Unfortunately, those areas are mostly run down now.

Gretchen is an ungrateful spoiled child! If she hates it so much, she should get her own place! Oh wait, she tried and failed!

To some in this world it would be a palace. She doesn’t know how lucky she is to even have a home. If it is so bad then why does she mouch there?

Guido is an inveterate flatterer. That’s all.
