Garfield: Modern technology is a wondrous thing.
Jon: I've forgotten how to turn the computer on!
Garfield: But it will never replace good old-fashioned dumb.
There was a long involved joke a few years ago about a seemingly illogical process on a computer (I wish I could remember what it was) that ended when the newbie asked the tech how to turn it off and was told, "Go to ‘Start.’.
Somebody, while from time to time enjoying a cup of joe placed in the handy cup holder on their new desktop computer, called in to tech help asking where to put their installation DVD discs.
Turning a computer ON is usually pretty straightforward, no matter the make. But the all-wise programmers of Windows really made Mac users do a double take by deciding to put the shut down command under a “START” menu!

Every year when switching from summer to winter time (and vice versa) I have to check the manual on how to change the time on our microwave.

Thankfully, these comments is my sole knowledge of Macs. Any computer that requires more than an on switch to start it would be trash in my book.

Old-fashioned dumb, yes. Ignorance, no, it exacerbates that.

If it’s a desktop, Jon probably just forgot that you need to turn the tower on first.

Wrong Garfield. Modern technology enhances and complements old-fashioned dumb.
