    I’ll say it’s a bad omen, alright.

Why didn’t he say heels then. I wouldn’t have taken anything away from the comic.

I’m surprised that the sandwiches don’t have little spears holding them together….Oh yeah, that would be another omen….

Loaves, heels, Achilles. It’s all Greek to me.

@jreckardHelen of Troy’s was the face that launched a thousand ships. That face could easily wreck a a few dozen.

One of the few things my father and I have in common is that we prefer the heels over the rest of the loaf. There were many times that my mother would find a half a loaf of bread jumbled in the bag because one of us had dumped it out to get at the heel. She often yelled at the wrong person.

It would never have occurred to me to ask to have the crusts cut off, but I wanted “bread on both sides”. Sometimes, my mom would put peanut butter, etc on the crusty side, so my sandwich looked as if it was made of regular bread. Sneaky.

So, let me get this straight; Achilles’ mom made him impervious to injury by dipping a loaf of bread into a magic pool, right? I know, I know…. I have a rye sense of humor.

That’s a good one! My workouts have mine well stretched

(and I think the heel of the bread is the best part). I like a good solid loaf.

Crandlemire: He may have said it, but it originated with Jane Ace of the Easy Aces radio show before Lennon was born.
