Let’s see, I’m the chief cook, bottle washer, laundry maiden, and chauffeur. We have a young son and a family business that the hubby puts at least 50 hours into every week…..oh what I wouldn’t give for a vacation and a maid.
We are both retired, and have a HUGE place. I do all the inside work and hubby does everything outside – two acres worth. When we have company, he pitches in with the cooking and table-setting. A real keeper.
Has varied over the years. I DID get my kids to pitch in (from very young, as they are little more than a year apart) but then I was divorced and they all grew up and married. Now I’m alone most of the time, see my lover when I can and I do everything around the house. Yesterday I cooked various beans and other veggies for a huge pot of vegetarian chili and another of bean salad with lots of celery. I like to alternate 2 meals for supper most of the time, and those are my current go-to choices. A garlic pasta and garlic omelet are my breakfast choices – lots of whole wheat toast and fresh (uncooked) stuff for sides. I’ll be happy to return to some meat and cheese next February. I’m only 105 this morning.
I emailed my kids about the planned facelift last week, thinking the daughter could be the one to stay with me (after one over-night, doctor wants someone to be with me for additional night or 2) but my middle son called and volunteered (said he could probably re-organize his schedule more easily than she – he’s just a corporate big-shot). She has no outside work but a 12 year old at home (and has always been the lazy princess). I wanted to have a talk with her about her new hubby. His messages to me make me think she’s not taking care of him well.

Somehow I get the feeling that having Elliot “help” will wind up taking twice as long as doing it himself.
