    Land line aside, I have this problem whenever I have phone or internet problems. Verizon uses voice non-recognition, and it never understands my neutral US accent.

    I know exactly what she’s talking about. I have intermittent land line failures. When I called AT&T on my cell to request service, they checked the land line and said everything was working fine. I said “What is it about itermittent that you don’t understand?” They told me to wait until the line didn’t work, then call them. I did that, got put on hold, and – SURPRISE! – by the time I got to talk to a human being, the line was working again. Geez…

    My cellphone voice recognition does the same thing. NEVER writes what I say. I gave up on that pretty quickly.
