Because people has lousy taste buds. They insist on covering the taste of any fish, meat or chicken with a flavor to disguise what it taste like. If you don’t love the one your going to eat, than don’t eat it it. I can not remember the last time I had chicken in natural flavor, lightly cooked.
I have met people who say they don’t like fish. But they eat shrimp (not fish). And tuna. Or sometimes salmon. But those were canned. .Do deep fried crickets taste like chicken?
I agree with you. I don’t care much for the drumsticks, but I find the thighs to be the best part of the chicken. Or maybe the wings, but the thighs have more meat, and on top are very cheap. The breast… lots of meat but pound for pound very expensive. And the meat is totally tasteless. It’s a great vehicle for sauce, but so is rice for that matter.

Had a nice steak last night, no sauces, no flavouring … just medium rare deliciousness.

Everything tastes like chicken—except chicken, which tastes like turkey. Therefore, everything tastes like turkey.
