As a young lad, I used to see that also. P-51’s, F-86’s, B-52’s model jets, peacetime model rockets, toys trains around the Xmas tree. And you used to see them in department stores downtown, not in the shopping malls like you see today.
You really touch the heart of the relationship between kids (of all ages) and their dogs. A simple sharing of dreams late on a snowy afternoon. Just beautiful; takes me back.

Yes, it’s still set in my childhood, the 1960’s. Long beforethere were insipid things like video games, i-phones, and i-pads.

You are lucky to see hobby shops period. The net has done a number on brick and mortar stores. Also mostly grownups now buy toy trains.
