Just having served is all that is needed to deserve appreciation, and I appreciate those who have served and are serving.

Let’s put aside the political and other rants for today and just remember and honor those who served and fought at Pearl Harbor 72 years ago today.
Always remember.

In defense of OUR service men and women – God Bless Them ALL!! Whatever gave them the inititive to serve doesn’t matter, it also doesn’t matter who is in the WH. All I know is that they defend our homeland, they don’t make a lot of money doing it, they miss out on family life, a normal life, they lose their lives, they lose limbs, and some lose their minds. I respect, admire, and pray for them. Our men and women that serve deserve the best we can give them. BE KIND, BE NICE.

Is there glory in serving if the cause is not right?

I don’t need for a comic strip to comment on every single current event, but observing days relating to America’s history is to be applauded.

I was going to express similar sentiments as the last two paragraphs, but then 3497 beat me to it. Let’s just say I agree.

It’s too bad there is no way to give a “like” on this forum.fbpwse3497 deserves one and several others also.

Guy, I cannot say “Thank You” enough.Dad and several uncles served in WWII. Dad lied about his age to get into the navy. His brothers served in Europe, one was a POW and the other was a tank driver in Gen Patton’s command.I had some uncles by marriage in the Pacific theater.None of them ever talked much about the war. I wish I had listened better when they did.

this is only my opinion, but, the best ways to honor our troops is to1. go to jury duty2. vote3. pay your taxes. all of them. stop sending money to overseas bank accounts to avoid paying your taxes.our soldiers died to protect our rights, we should treat them with more respect. period.

Hey, Creepazoid! Every1 who goes into the military knows he may have to serve in combat. Just because some are lucky enough to get non-combat jobs doesn’t mean they don’t deserve same respect as all other veterans. Hey! Even guys who served coffee died at Pearl Harbor at a time when USA had not yet entered WW2 so they were not merely serving any POTUS’ political interests. Grow up an get a life FGS!

Honor the true veterans, but beware of those that make false claims. In a recent cencus, several times as many claimed to be Viet Nam veterans than military figures indicate ever being there! To be fair, you did not have to actually go to Viet Nam to be considered a VN veteran – if you were in the military X number of days from date A to date B (someone can supply the actual numbers?).My service dates overlap A, but not quite enough to be considered, so I do not claim to be a VN veteram.

Historical footnote: My final year was at a cold war listening post in Turkey. They needed two men to go to VN.One of the two was away on another assignment at the time,so Pvt Davis volunteered to go in his place – and became the first US soldier killed in VN.Davis Station is named after him.

Footnote #2: Davis did not go down in combat. He was into DF (direction finding) and so good at locating enemy radios that the enemy put out a contract on him

Pearl Harbor prompted my uncle to enlist in the Navy in early ’42, served on an aircraft carrier. His little brother, my dad, lied about his age and also enlisted a few months later. Dad split his time between a Destroyer Escort and the crew of a troop ship.

Sometimes it is more interesting to view the comments than read the actual comic being critiqued.

@Colonel ClausI don’t claim to know the right or wrong of every armed conflict but I question the indiscriminate glorification of every soldier that serves in one, no matter how dirty or unnecessary it is
